Lorentz ROSER of Shrewsbury Township, York Co., Penn.

The following represents my efforts to determine the family of one Lorentz Roser. It has been compiled using records listed in, "Genealogical Reports for The Historical Society of York County," Edith Beard Cannon, Researcher Volume XXXIV, pp. 19-49 - Evidences of the Roser Families of York County before the Year 1850 (Document Dated 1946 - located at the Family History Library, Salt Lake City, Utah)

I believe this Lorentz ROSER to have been the son of Adam and Catharina ROSER as they are listed as sponsors for one of the children and are shown as grandparents.

The above named document includes extractions from the Administration Bonds of Lawrence ROSER dated 3 August 1830. Adam ROSER and Philip ROSER, administrators. "The administrators state that Lawrence ROSER left to survive him George, Lawrence, Michael, Conrad, Philip and Adam (the petitioners), Catharine wife of John FRY, Elizabeth wife of Michael FRY, Magdalena, wife of George BECK, Susanna, Anna Maria wife of Isaac GIBBS, who died leaving seven children, viz., - John, Edie, Isaac, Peter, Elizabeth, Charles, and Nancy GIBBS; and that Lawrence ROSER, their father, was seized in his desmesne as of fee of a tract of 145 acres situate in Shrewsbury Township, adjoining land of Philip ROSER and others; and pray for an inquest for valuation and partition. (Orphans Court Dockets Q,166.)

14 Dec 1830. William SPANGLER, Esquire, High Sheriff of York County, reports that above property may be divided to accommodate two of the heirs, - 1) 146 acres, 103 perches with the mansion house and improvements, valued at $682.50 and 2) 10 acres adjoining lands of Philip ROSER and No. 1, valued at $80.00. Philip ROSER is decreed No. 2 (Orphan's Court Dockets Q,232)

5 April 1831. On 8 January 1831 the tract No. 1 was sold to John SNYDER for $771.35. (Orphans Court Dockets Q,284.)"
