Grafton{short description of image} Tanquary Eaton was born September 9, 1858 or 1859 in Lee County, Iowa.
He was the sixth son of John M. and Nancy Benn Eaton.

By 1869 the Eaton family had moved to Benton County, Missouri. Grafton Eaton was married there on April 28, 1882 to Mattie B. Moore. At the time of the First Territorial Cenus of Oklahoma in 1890, Grafton Eaton was living in Logan County, reported that he had been in the territory 18 months, and that he was single. Two brothers were also enumerated with him on that census, Samuel and Patrick (actually his youngest brother, Aaron.) His children say that Grafton Eaton went by the name of Dick Eaton.

Maud Josephine Havens was born October 8, 1880 to Howard and Mary Catherine (Strickland) Havens at Coffeyville, Kansas. Her death certificate indicates that Maud Havens Eaton was born in 1879. However, Maud is not listed with her parents on the 1880 census, so the year of her birth is questionable. Her age on her marriage license would indicate that she was born in 1880. Sometime after the 1880 census, the Havens family left Kansas. Family legend states Howard Havens homesteaded in Washington Co. Ark. Howard Havens is said to have died along the way to Indian Territory and was supposedly buried at the Old McAlester Cemetery, Pittsburg County, Oklahoma. No record can be found.

Maud Havens was working at her mother's boarding house when she met Grafton Eaton. They were married September 20, 1899, at Fanshaw, Indian Territory. By 1910, they were living in Haskell County, OK.

Their children were: Samuel McDonald Eaton, Faith Eola Eaton, Benjamin Forrest Eaton, Cecil Louella Eaton, Scott Wellington Eaton, Debs T. Eaton, Eva Mae Eaton, Tina Lee Eaton, and Earl Howard Eaton.

Grafton Eaton died January 2, 1940. Maud Havens Eaton died April 11, 1967. Both are buried at Sans Bois Cemetery, Haskell County, Oklahoma.
